So I submitted some apps early action and in my haste, forgot to mention some things the counselor may have not put on the recommendation. It’s listed on my activities on the common application, but the counselor is probably unaware of it and may have not put it on the rec letter she wrote as I forgot to mention it to her. Will this do any significant harm to my application? I don’t want them to think I’m lying; I listed ten activities and the counselor only received eight of them on the brag sheet. What do I do?
Relax. The information is on your application. It is not expected that your counselor recommendation will rehash every one of the activities you have listed.
I think the recommendation is supposed to extol your personal attributes rather than just list all of your activities again. Recs are used for the school to see how teachers and counselors see you as a person and student rather than just hear how involved you are in ECs again.
If you listed and described your ECs, then that’s all that needs to be done for them. The school will not think you are lying just because your counselor did not give them a run-over of every activity you do. My school doesn’t even do brag sheets, so the counselors don’t even know what ECs we do, but students from my school are not called out by admissions workers for lying.
