Through a series of rather unfortunate events including my parents accidently deleting one of my essays ("but we needed more space, and you put it on the desktop"), I ended up not getting my application out last night until 11:04 my time. I live in the central time zone, though, so the Common App claims I sent it in late.

I looked through past threads on this and on the school's website, but I haven't really found a satisfactory answer to my problem. So I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice on whether or not I should send the school a letter explaining that although it says the application was submitted late, I submitted it well before midnight in my time zone. Or should I just give it up as lost? :

Not true, do not forget admissions people are people as well. Call them and explain, I think they will accept it.

Or you could sacrifice your parents to Mephistopheles for an admission. A win-win situation: you need a university, and your parents must pay for their blunder!

One: Many unversities don't care if you send an application a little late.

Two: I don't think they'd consider it late because you're in a different timezone.

Three: It's not like they can process all applications at once, so submitting it 'late' won't even matter. It's not like they can start reviewing applications at midnight, anyway.

If it makes you feel better, feel free to email them, but I personally think it won't make a difference. You'll be fine.
