My family and I submitted an application to UNC Chapel Hill on Sunday, October 20th. Then today, an email arrived saying that it wasn't submitted! I remember that we've clearly clicked on the Submit button on the dashboard and paid for it, so I'm really confused now. The deadline has already passed (October 21st), so if something did go wrong, we probably won't be able to make this first admission.

If you look at the other posts in this forum, you’ll see that you’re not the only person this happened to.

Send an email to the UNC admissions office. Tell them you submitted your app on October 20, and have now received an email from Common App saying the submission was unsuccessful. Ask them what they’d like you to do.

Keep it calm, polite, and brief. It’s unlikely you’ll be penalized for a system failure that everyone is aware of, so send the email and hope for the best!

What do you mean receiving an e-mail that it was not submitted? If you did not submit the application, why would they contact you at all? Is it just one of those student recruitment application reminder e-mail?
After you submitted the application on CommonApp, it may take a day to over a week for the school to download it and put into their record. Until then, the school would not know if you have submitted the application.

billcsho - Why so critical??? Dennis96411 is not the only person to have had this problem, as I noted above. See this thread:

No. Not offensive at all. It is just not clear to me where was that e-mail coming from and I was puzzled by it. I did not see your response when I was typing the previous one. On the other thread, it is clear the e-mail is from CommonApp. There are so many problems with CommonApp this year. My D still have an open ticket from 3 weeks ago that an issue on supplement submission is still not solved.

The submission is not complete if you have not signed the application after the payment. Perhaps that is the problem for this case. In some cases, it took 48 hours to finish the payment and let you sign for the application.
