I feel like an idiot for this just having dawned on me, post-application process, but I was having a conversation the other day with a junior about APs and I realized some (or more?) applicants submit their actual AP scores through college board. I was never told to do it, and I always thought you just did that for the one school you knew you were going to, to get credit and all. I only had two at that point, but they were both 4’s (Euro and Calc BC) and I’m just wondering how you guys think this effected me, if it did. Do most people submit scores? Sorry if this is a repeat of other topics… I just feel like an idiot and need some clarification for its own sake.

The Dean of Admissions at Harvard has publicly stated that he prefers to see ap scores in the app folder, so some schools do use them in the admin process. Others just use ap for placement after matriculation.

There is some discussion in the news about how adcoms think that AP courses have gotten so common that taking the course isn't very meaningful without taking the test, but the lottery aspects of the whole process outweighs anything that occurred because your AP scores were missing. I don't think it mattered at all.
