Submitting SIR to 2 UCs

i had previously submitted my SIR to cal but now i think i've changed my mind and want to go to UCLA

what happens if i submit SIR to both schools?

what i hear is that i have to notify cal of this and i just pay a penalty or whatever...

oh and... is it really worth going to berkeley for spring and missing out on the first semester of college for the berkeley business school............................................

Doesn't seem that nothing bad will happen. Go ahead and submit to UCLA before it gets too late.

if they find out you have submitted 2 SIRs they can rescind you...

andrew didn't you sign up for FPF? Also, you don't get into Haas until your junior year.

People on this forum can tell you all there is to do about it, but nothing they say here will be official or a guarantee that it will be ok/or not ok.

best give both cal and ucla a call.

Eric, you're mistaken, you can get rescinded for sending in two SIR's. Both sites warn against it and admit possible rescindence (is that a word? :P) for sending SIR's to multiple UC's during the SIR filing process.

Pretty sure this one's official.

call them. now.

This is all a bunch of lies. I sent my SIR to 2 schools last year. They just send you a letter in June saying "Please write a hand-written letter to both schools stating that you will/will not be attending the school"

Ditto per MrSpam's response; same thing happened to me. I assure you, you'll be fine if you submit 2 SIR's.

What I'm saying is, it doesn't matter what people say on this forum, in the end he has to call Cal to cancel his decision. And if you were 100%, you would not say "pretty sure".

were not saying that they will, but its a possibility.

It's not a "call", it's a hand written letter...

the only thing you would lose for sending multiple sir's is your deposit...

MrSpam: Ok, 'contact' is the word I should've used. geez.

i submitted my sir to cal before i even knew i had been accepted to ucla. when i changed my mind i emailed the admissions office to take back my sir. i lost the 100 dollar deposit but besides that everything worked out fine. except now i get emails from cal all the time because their system thinks i go there haha

i'm a transfer student with the EXACT SAME DILEMMA. i wanna send my SIR to berkeley and ucla to buy some time. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED andrewyeon...did either school rescind your admission? was it like they said, just the handwritten letter?

i want to send 2 sir’s…it seems like nothing bad is going to happen if you do so…eventually (in june, i’ll pick)

what do you guys think???

you will be fine if you submit two SIRs to two UCs. they will not rescind you. however, you should call after you have made your decision to which UC school you want to attned. the UC office will send you a letter asking you to handwrite a letter to each UC you have submitted your SIR to (in your case, two UC campuses) and tell them if you want to accept/reject/withdraw your admission from their school and state a reason. i know this because i submitted two SIRs and received a letter from the uC office this week.

sorry, i meant attend*

yea same here i sent my sir to berkeley but then changed my mind and sent an sir to ucla too. I then just emailed berkeley telling them I changed my mind and so far everything is working out fine… not getting rescinded or anythin
