"If you submit your application online, please submit all transcripts, all recommendations, application fee, and signature page in one package."

Those are the instructions on Emory's website. One of my D's teachers said she has never heard of returning a recommendation to a student, and asked to see the instructions on the website. I can show her this note but, even so, I gather that the teacher is uncomfortable doing it this way. Does anyone have any experience with Emory's admissions process? Can a teacher send in the reference directly without causing a problem?

well, i'm doing a paper application but my counselor has been extremely helpful. she is sending in my transcript as well as her and other teacher recommendations, this way it can be sent together with all of part II and avoid going through me.

I called Emory Admissions. They told me that they "really don't need" teacher recommendations; that if applying to the Emory Scholars program they require only one; and while they greatly prefer that the materials be sent together with other material in one packet, the recommendation can be sent separately.
