I applied to MSU during my senior year in high school and got accepted . I chose to go to a different school and now I regret it , so I am planning on transferring back to MSU after one semester in college. I submitted the same essay as I did last year bc I thought I wrote a really good essay. On my application I now see 2 personal statements, one from this year and another from last year. Am I screwed, because they’ll see this year and last year are the same?
I’m sure this isn’t the first time someone’s submitted the same essay (especially if it’s a well written essay) so I wouldn’t stress too much about that. Plus, I don’t think they’ll be viewing both statements to compare for any similarities out of curiosity. On another note, when you’re considering transferring, MSU will take into account your credits completed and your grades at your current/previous institution. In short the higher the credits the higher chances you have to being admitted (I think they require at least 28). The max one can do in a semester is about 18 (you could also take summer classes to make up the difference). It’s imperative that you look over their required courses like writing, math, and maintaining a 3.0+ to be considered more competitive in the admissions process. Hope this helps!
@SammyDKMV Thanks for the response. I am still a freshman and I currently have not started college yet. However, from my Ap scores, I would have the math credits that is needed. I am applying for the spring semester, therefore, I would be able to take the classes that is recommended for transfer. Along with that, I also have 15 credits for Chinese that would transfer. However, my only worry is the acceptance. Would it be more likely cause I already got accepted once?
@SammyDKMV I also don’t have 28 credits available, so they would be using my high school stats for evaluation.
I don’t think your previous acceptance would make you more/less likely to get in/rejected. Concerning the Spring semester (I applied as well to this sem) I think they’ll be accepting students based on limited spacing as well. A lot of ppl who applied for Fall 2019 were accepted into Spring 2020 b/c of the mass amount of applicants. Also, If they accepted you in high school it shows your stats were what they were looking for. For you to become a more competitive applicant b/c they’ll be comparing your stats to other transfers (opposed to incoming freshmen) you’ll have to do your best to maintain your good grades. It’ll help out a lot! In the case of your essay I think you’ll be fine. What prompt did you write about?
@SammyDKMV I wrote about a realization that I had. Well, I am really hoping that they will accept me again. Best of luck to you.
I’m sure they will and best of luck to you as well.
