subpar SAT scores? how important are they really anyway?

i scored a 2160 on my first time taking the sat I reasoning test. but retaking them again prove to be somewhat difficult and inconvenient due to certain reasons (xP). i was just wondering if getting a 2160 and getting a 2360 really makes a big difference/impact in the admissions process. ? is it worth it to take it again? any suggestions/comments would be appreciated! thanx in advance =)

if it matters at all (though i've done my research and from what i've seen race etc. unless you're a URM doesn't really matter that much for "standards" on academics) i'm asian xD

2160 is great - don't stress about it
i'd easily recommend the ACT over taking the SAT again

I got a 2160 and I will be going to Harvard next year. I am not a URM or an athlete so don't worry.

No idea; I got a 2180 my 1st time and retook it to get a 2320 just to cover my tracks. However, I'm sure it won't make a large difference in the admission process.

thanx so much for your suggestions and comments! =)

I would say there's a noticeable difference between 2160 and 2360...if you're absolutely sure you'll score in the 2300s on a retake, then I would suggest doing that.

I got a 2120...
then add 2 SAT II subject test scores of 640 and 660...

and I'm going to Harvard next year (non-URM/non-athlete/non-legacy).

Wooooaaaaah Hoooooowww O.O does this prove that grades really aren't everything? did you have like a super duper amazing GPA or? did you have a hook?! lol do tell!!

well, in my case... my grades were great... 9/426 rank... took a lot of extra classes (online, distance education through the Harvard ext school, summer programs, independent study)... very passionate about my EC's... I don't think I had a hook, though... i also qualified for HFAI as both my parents are unemployed (not sure if that has any weight in admissions).

yeah i got in with a 2140.

wow.. !! this is really great encouragement! the thing with me is that i've never really believed in standardized testing or academic overachievement since i've always preferred to spend a lot more time on things that are important to me as an individual. however, once i realized that i was aiming for such a WAAAAY UP THERE college, i really started to worry about this kind of stuff. so i see that SAT scores really are just a matter if you meet a certain level. thanx for everyone's input!! it's really helped a lot and i appreciate it so much!!

one more question guys! sorry! what about grades? i'm ranked 14/559 but i even got a C+ in one of my honors classes (in my worst subject area, math, this time was algebra II honors). will That make a big impact? my grades altogether (except in social studies and english etc.) have gone down somewhat since freshmen year as my EC's take up a lot more time. i'm hoping to go into the major of humanities, communications, and arts.
