I'm really interested in Emerson College, in Boston, but admission is far from gauranteed because I don't have great stats. I'm still hoping to transfer to Emerson in the future, but would still like to be in the Boston area. Does anyone know anything about Suffolk University? It initially began as a law school, but they now have an undergrad. program as well. Any information would be great. I visited when I went to Emerson, but couldn't get any feel at all for the academics or student body (it was vacation).

My cousin's son is a freshman there. It's a city school that basically has no campus and is rather small. He also did not have great stats (in fact, he was kicked out of another school a couple of years ago...never finished his first semester at the first school). But they admitted him after a gap year, and he seems to be doing OK there now.

My son is in his second year of undergrad at Suffolk. He really loves the small classes. They've rangd from 2 - 30 students in his 2 years there. So if small classes, professor interaction is a plus for the student then Suffolk is the place.
Professors are very caring and attentive to students needs. He's spent many hours after classes with his professors as well as gone out to lunch with them to discuss future plans etc. numerous times.
The dean and head of faculties will do everything to see that a student is happy and academically fulfilled. They got some new classes there for my son's major (5 to be exact)and he also commutes to other colleges for classes that are not available at Suffolk.

Students are friendly, he lived in the new dorms on Sommerset St. the first year and made lots of friends that he still is in contact with. They have a very good school spirit with lots of clubs and commuter connection activities.

It's a little on the pricey side, but well worth it. I know my son spends many hours studying and works hard for his great grades. As with any college it is what you put into it, but as you can see I would give it an A+.
He was accepted at other colleges out of High School, but chose Suffolk and has no regrets.
