Suggest a Reach for Me

I am looking for a reach school to apply to. I have a match school (UMich) and a safety school. Both which I like a lot. I am hoping I will get into my match because it is my top choice. I figure I might as well apply to one reach. Here are my stats...I live in Michigan and will be majoring in business.

3.7 UW/Michigan GPA (8 APs so far)
30 ACT (Retaking in October...took without prep)
Varsity/Club Swimming, Model UN (Leadership Position), NHS, Volunteer Work (Recreation Swimming, Hospital, Tutoring)

what are your interests?

If you were looking to stay in the midwest, I would consider applying to Northwestern. Look into their programs and see if they have the specific field of business you are looking for.

what kind of school do you want? liberal arts? large research u?

I'd say Indiana-Bloomington is practically a safety for you.

How about NYU/Stern for business?

Well, you are from Michigan and as such, you have access to one of the nation's top 3 undergraduate B-schools at a highly discounted rate. Therefore, you should really only apply to Business programs that are better or cheaper. Of course, you should apply to safeties, like Indiana and MSU.

NYU-Stern is not better than Ross and it is twice as expensive and they aren't known for giving out scholarships. Same goes for MIT-Sloan and Cal-Haas. Only Wharton is better, but again, it is significantly more expensive, and unless you qualify for financial aid, you will not get money from them. .

You can apply for UVa as an out-of-state reach, if you like to be exposed to a little "southern" culture. Michigan's business program is excellent though.

If i were you, I would apply for michigan in September. if you get in, you wont have to waste money applying for other schools.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! I'm definately am not looking to go to a liberal arts school. I guess the only reach that would make sense to apply to is Wharton, but I definately would not get in there. I think I will just apply to Michigan (and safeties) and hope I get in.

Northwestern doesn't have undergrad business.

The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.....:)
