Please suggest me some safeties with these stats.
GPA : 3.6/4 un-weighted
ACT: 30 (36M 30S 28E 25R)
SAT Subject test scores: 800 physics, 800 math level 2, 790 chemistry
I have a silver medal of international physics olympiad(IPO).
Iwas the national winner of national physics olympiad.
I have taught in one of the community schools of my area, and i have few other eca's.
I'm in top 5% of the graduating class.
Intended major:Physics/Engineering
I am an international student.
Financial aid: Yes

How about Purdue University?

Very good for engineering, but rather easy to get into.

But I need financial aid as well. So any suggestions?

There are no safeties for internationals needing aid unfortunately.

All you can do is apply widely to the schools know for giving aid to intnls where your stats are at the top of their pool. If you don’t need much aid you’re more likely to find some. If you’re from an unusual country, you’re also much more likely to find some aid. Have a good backup in your country.

Check out St. Olaf, Kalamazoo, Lawrence, and Earlham.

These are not true safeties (heed Waverly’s advice). However, they do meet the following combination of criteria:
- selective, but not super selective
- relatively generous aid to internationals (with aid packages averaging $20K-$30K)
- strength in science/math fields (based on indicators such as per capita PhD production in those fields)
- not so well-known among internationals (meaning you probably won’t be competing against too many internationals for the available admission spots and aid)
- listed on the “Colleges That Change Lives” site ([About CTCL | Colleges That Change Lives](CTCLatHECA2018 – Colleges That Change Lives))

@waverly:what does that ‘unusual country’ mean?

A country that sends few applicants. So not India, China, Korea, most European countries, AU, etc.

^Thanks to god that I don’t belong to any of those countries listed by you.

Those were examples, not all of them. What is your home country?

@Erin’s Dad: I cannot reveal it here. But, can you suggest me some colleges that I have decent chances to enter with those stats. Please!! deadlines are approaching and the colleges that I’ve on my list( MIT, CalTech, UChicago, GeorgeTown, UWashington) are all uncertain. I need atleast a safety.

[Illinois Institute of Technology](http://www.iit.edu) often provides aid for International students and you are just about at the median of the typical entering class.

^I just checked the website of IIT, but aid for International students is not mentioned in their site.

IIt seems that IIT does not offer FA to international applicants and they require a verification of support (proof you can pay in full). They do have some merit for internationals with a max of $12k
[IIT Undergraduate Admission | International Applicants](http://www.iit.edu/undergrad_admission/apply/international.shtml)

^ Yes, I also heard the same.

Any more colleges??

BuMpbump$&@

How much aid do you need? How much will your parents pay? If you need all or nearly all costs covered, then few schools will work.

@mom2collegekids:could you please tell of those ‘few schools’ that matches my stats?

My error on terminology, I considered merit scholarships to be financial aid.

Jan 1 is approaching. I am in desperate need of some advice
