Suggested alternatives to Rutgers

DD was just dismissed from the Ernest Mario Pharma program for not maintaining the minimum academic requirements at the end of her junior year. She’s planning on a general bio-related degree and taking the PCATs in a couple of months to move elsewhere. Her GPA started around 3.5 and fell just below 3 with a poor performance in Orgo. Any suggestions on the schools she should apply to where she has a reasonable chance of acceptance, with academic rigor that she can handle (her GPA at Rutgers started around 3.5 and fell below 3 with a poor performance in Orgo), and has a reasonably good placement rate (she says she prefers a clinical setting like a hospital rather than retail or industry)

One plus on her side is we can probably make four years of tuition without aid. She’s still interning at a retail outlet this summer as was planned. Any other suggestions to strengthen her credentials would be helpful.

I’m confused, so she is in the pharm d program or the pre-pharmacy program at Rutgers? I thought Organic
Chemistry is usually taken in 2nd undergrad year? Does she still want to do pharmd at another school?

She could retake Organic Chemistry. Most pharmacy schools will require C or better in prerequisite classes.

When she is ready have her do PCAT practice tests. She will have to do well to be competitive. If not I would think working on a bachelor’s degree and bringing up gpa and then applying to pharmacy school might be better.

Inquire from pharmacy schools their minimum admissions criteria.
