So my APUSH teacher loves our textbook, The American Pageant. So much so in fact, that she's making us read every chapter in the book (spread out throughout the year).

The problem is, I don't learn from this kind of teaching. Most textbooks (especially the one said above) are written in such a way, that it makes me want to burn the book, and take a nap afterward. Not only does she make us read it, but we have to take notes, and not just any notes; she used to let us note take on our style of choice, but so many people were "bs'ing" the assignment that now, now she makes us write questions on the chapter, and answer them.

Anyway, my point is, most things I read in a textbook go over my head, and if I take anything away from it, it's usually the very general point, instead of the detail stuff she wants us to know. Any solutions for this problem?
