Suggestions/HELP for Average-ish Senior??

Hey Parents...wondering if you guys can help...my parents rnt able 2 :(

Pleease help!!! Thanks!

I’m not sure why you think you are ‘average-ish’. Average is a C student, you are well above that.

What colleges are you aiming for?

I’m reaching for colleges like NW and UCB, but I’m worried these top-tier non ivies are still pipe dreams :(

??? anyone ???

I’m not sure what NW is (Northwestern?), but UCB seems very reasonable. You might want to post something on that forum to see what others’ stats have been.

You’re NOT average. You ARE going to get into a few decent colleges. Don’t even worry about that. Colleges will take into consideration your course load and you can always write your essay about how you challenged yourself with the most rigorous academic classes.

Is this a joke?

You are not average. You have to know that. Did you do fashion modeling? That is interesting. You will get into many good colleges and your GPA seems fine to me.

wow thanks guys so any college suggestions? o @mispearl yeah i’ve done fashion modeling though definitely not that seriously~only in the summer…im hoping it will be a unique thing?

Can your family afford UCB? I assume you are OOS since you didn’t put your UC GPA.

I think there are lots of excellent schools you should consider–these could include private universities similar to Northwestern (places like Tufts, Emory, Vanderbilt, etc.) or publics similar to Berkeley (Michigan, Wisconsin). There are also many, many smaller schools you could consider. What is your home state?

It is the start of senior year. You have already taken 5 AP tests, and you scored a 5 on each of them. You have two SAT subject scores over 700. You are an exceptional student.

Do you have two safeties? Find two schools you will definitely get into, that you like, that you can afford. Find two matches as well. This is my advice for everyone. However, I think you will have good success in being admitted to your reach schools.

With similar grades and APs (total of 10 by the end of senior year), and slightly lower SAT scores, my D was accepted to Vanderbilt, Univ. of Southern California, NYU, Boston College, Villanova, Fordham, Tulane, SMU, Northeastern, and a few others, some in honors programs, some with scholarships. (She was not accepted to Brown, Penn, Tufts, or UVa.) She had some interesting and unusual extra-curricular activities (as you do), and she wrote a decent essay. You’ll be fine.

UC GPA=4 :frowning: i don’t think money is a huge problem…i should get plenty of financial aid. I’m working on my safeties/matches but they’ll probably be UCs. thanks for advice! @lenny2 it’s really comforting to know your daughter was accepted into such good schools!
