Is it easy to get a suite as a freshman?

It's probably a 50/50 chance. It depends on which community you were assigned to as a freshmen. All frosh live on campus. If you live in Newing or Dickinson you won't have a suite as all rooms are either doubles or medical singles. If you live in Mountainview or Hinman you are definitely getting a suite because all the rooms are suites. If you are in CIW...its mostly doubles, but there are some suites. Which community are you living in?

Oh, I'm looking at Binghamton, and one of my big factors of look at a school include housing. I really don't think I will be able to handle communal bathrooms. I'm fine with sharing it with a couple people just not the WHOLE HALL. So are you able to choose your housing?

I have a suite and I'm about to be a freshman... there is something called a learning community, and you can get an automatic suite, if you take certain classes, or maybe only one class.

I have a suite in college in the woods, by taking only a freshman English course (Eng115)

I'll answer you question. You chose your housing after you put in you $350 deposit in May.

Good Luck! Bing is a great place.

ciw also has double rooms that use a communal bathroom -- are there people in your learning community who will be living in the doubles? did the learning community guarantee a suite or only a specific dorm? (fyi to op -- ciw has both doubles and suites, as opposed to other binghamton dorms which are either all suite or all corridors - though i think the one newer ciw dorm is all suites).

it is my understanding that when you submit your housing deposit you are allowed to express a preference for which residential community you want to live in, but that it is not guaranteed -- there was a prior thread started by someone who wasn't happy with his/her dorm assignment.
