Suite style

looking for colleges that guarantee/ make it easy to get suite style rooms. I’m not a huge fan of the communal bathrooms. looking in new England, Washington dc, Michigan, and Wisconsin area. have a 4.2 gpa and 33 on act. thanks!

More and more schools are starting to offer suite style and even make suite style the norm. However, it is very stupid to pick a school based on freshman housing. Communal bathrooms really aren’t bad and I consider it part of the freshman experience; you’ll meet a lot more people if you have to walk down the hall. You should be looking up schools you’re interested in and doing research and then going on their housing website if you care that much (which you shouldn’t).

You need to start off by doing basic research on your own. I would first choose colleges that fit your academic profile, appear affordable, and that have whatever else you think you want you want in a college (such as but not limited to size, location, big time sports, greek life, religious affiliation etc.) Then you can go to the Residential Life page of each of those colleges to see what housing options are available to freshmen.

I would caution you against choosing a college based on any one criteria such as suite style rooms for freshmen as IMO there are many more important factors, but in the end your priority is your call.

If you were to state a few more general preferences, some specific recommendations as to colleges with desirable residence options might be possible.

I meet hundreds of college freshman and almost all them have the same concern as you. After freshman year 95% of them said it was not a big deal. A suite style room would be way at the bottom as most important factor for choosing a school. I have a niece who was a freshman at UT last year and she had the same concern. Even she said it was not big deal although she is in a apartment now.
