Thank you for your interest in the Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC). When I notified you of your SUMaC admission status, I commented that we were more selective than ever before due to the size and strength of the applicant pool. This year we were able to admit less than 8% of the applicants.
Although you were denied admission to SUMaC, we have taken note of your strong qualifications. I am writing to inform you that we have space in a similar program under my direction, namely the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes, and I invite you to consider some of the math courses available to 10th and 11th graders offered through this program. Note that the program structure, level of content, and atmosphere centered on mathematics at the Summer Institutes are all very similar to SUMaC.
for those who got accepted, when do you need to let them know whether or not youre going? i got waitlisted so i wanted to see when i should expect to be getting an email
Hello! I was waitlisted at first but then accepted about 2 weeks later, and so I’m interested in seeing who else is going! Is anyone going to make a facebook group?
@plyslife did you apply for the Summer institute when they offered you. Have you heard from them yet and if you get in are you going? Is it worth going to pre-collegiate summer institute at Stanford?
Hey just found this thread! I got accepted to sumac as well.
I am not the most outstanding kid in this pool so I was pretty surprised to be accepted.
I finished 10/10 but am not sure if I got all of them right. 800 SAT math subject test, math club at school, took multivariable calculus this year (and didn’t get an A), GPA under 3.8.
I am a junior girl and I am definitely not one of the smartest kids in my grade so I guess there is an advantage of being a girl. Maybe my rec. letters were good? I’m not sure.
