Hmmm, that’s interesting. You should contact First Year Programs, which is the department that deals with all the orientation stuff.

You can find the contact info here: [Contact Information | First Year Programs](http://fyp.washington.edu/?page_id=8)

They should be able to answer your questions, since without being able to see your account/their end of this, I don’t think any of us will be able to tell if it’s a local issue or if their server(?) is having issues.

Haha thanks again speedsolver, I’ll contact them. It may be because they’re not completely done setting up summer quarter orientations because when I tried yesterday, it stated that “Advising and Orientation Sessions have not opened for transfer students.” or something along the lines of that, but when I tried it today, I could go through with it but no dates were setup.

Any other summer transfers experiencing difficulties with registering for orientation?

stephiebunny, you were recently admitted, right? I bet they’re still setting up some things for transfers, and you’re just jumping the gun a bit too early for them Again, congrats! It wouldn’t hurt to call just to make sure it’s not just your account having some trouble, but my guess is that the registration for a/o will be set up by next week.

Hehe yeah I just got in last week. I probably am getting too far ahead of myself but I can’t help it, I’m WAY too excited! :P

Still waiting on them to lift my registration block for the immunization records. I called and left a message yesterday morning, but still no callback/reply. Any luck for you on this STEPHIEBUNNY?

As for the A&O session, I have the same situation, no dates are available. I’m glad we aren’t required to schedule one since my classes are filling up quickly (only three spots left in one of them!). Unfortunately, with the immunization requirement still pending and the fact that my transfer credits haven’t been applied yet, it’s not looking good!

STEPHANIEBUNNY: Haha I don’t blame you!

soIaris: Keep calling; if you’re able to get through the line, you’ll be helped before they check messages and get back to students!

I know registration for transfers is pretty stressful, but if you don’t get into your classes you have a few options:
- Email the class department advisors, see if they allow overload petitions
- Keep checking the time schedule. People drop! Especially during the first week of the course.
- Sit in the class the first week. Talk to the professor; usually if there is no lab involved and there’s enough seats in the room without it being a fire hazard, they try their best to get you into the class if you show a lot of initiative and interest.
- Take another course

@ soIaris - I called about my measles status but I got no answer. The classes I want to take are also getting full. I have to work soon so I can’t walk into the Immunization Center to inquire about my status. Is the Immunization Center open on the weekend? I’d like to get the hold on my registration lifted soon…

I don’t think the center is open on the weekend. Which classes specifically are you trying to get into?

According to their message, they are not open on the weekends. The A&O sessions seem to have been updated, at least for the area of interest I selected. Still haven’t received word about my immunization status though!

Every area except Environmental and Social Science has updated sessions. I’m in Social Science…

And I’m trying to get into SIS 201.

has any other summer transfers been able to register for orientation yet? Or at least have had their immunizations processed? I know they told us it takes 2 weeks, but classes are filling up and there’s housing too.

I just registered for the session on June 6th. According to the message displayed on the website, there was a problem sending my confirmation email, but it does seem to have signed me up for the A&O session, who knows though. Additionally, still no answer or callback regarding the immunization forms. Slow and broken seems to be a trending theme.

So my area of interest doesn’t have any sessions listed.

"All advising and orientation sessions include a one-on-one appointment with an adviser. You may choose any Advising & Orientation date that is open - however if you wish to meet with a departmental adviser you should review this chart.

If you choose a session for which a departmental adviser is not available, you will meet with a general adviser."
But I still need to sign up for an A&O, and there is no “general” or “undecided” option listed. My friend says I should choose the “next best” option since the area of interest doesn’t mean you’re committed to it, it’s just there to help you. Should I choose the next best option and choose a session date, or should I call FYP (prob not open on weekends though) about my situation? I need to request the day of orientation off for work, and I need to send in a request to my manager by tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon for next week’s schedule in which both orientations fall under. I guess I can just request June 3rd off and if that doesn’t work out and I end up with the June 6th session, I can get someone to cover my shift. If you guys haven’t noticed already I tend to worry/panic easily and I like to plan ahead, haha.

@johnt21 - I’m wondering the same thing. No one has posted here about registering for classes successfully.

@soIaris - Slow and broken does sum up my thoughts about the current summer transfer process as well. I am sure they are very busy, but classes are getting full and class starts in less than a month. We both tried contacting them about the measles verification and got no response. Can’t help but feel a little frustrated.

I’m trying to sign up for the social science major orientation but it says that there is no available date for it… Should I just sign up for another major’s orientation do you think?

Thanks!

@aluoong - I’m having the same problem. I’m going to contact FYP tomorrow and see if I get an answer, lol. If not, I’m just going to choose the “second best” option.

Has anyone been able to register for classes yet? My measles situation remains the same.

Left another message with the Hall Health Center today. Had sent an email on Thursday, but no response. I emailed FYP this morning, but no reply from them either!

I emailed FYP this morning as well and I got a reply. They fixed the internal error with the website and I was finally able to register for an orientation. However, I also had an error message regarding the confirmation email. I emailed them again and they said that as long as the information was displayed on the page, then that was all I need. The person also confirmed that I was indeed signed up for the session and that I was good to go.

I will try to reach the Immunization Clinic again.

Any updates with any of you guys as far as getting in contact with the Immunization Clinic? Seems like I’d have a better chance trying to reach the pope! I’ve called, left messages, emailed them…to no avail. I managed to register for the June 6 A&O for Social Science, but on my confirmation page it states I must have my proof of measles immunity before I step foot on campus.

When we talked to the nurse about this, she said to either bring proof by during the A&O or fax it in to their office. We faxed it in and the notice was gone within days.
