Summer 2012 Florida State University Transfer

So, I'm a freshman at USF. I changed majors and now FSU seems more suitable for my career path. So, I applied early December, and sent my USF transcript as soon as it was available. I have a 3.3 college GPA with 20 credit hours. I know it's not the best, but I'm going to bring it up in Spring. Stupid 3000 level brought me down with that depressing C. I realized that it's harder to transfer without an AA since they count high school performances. However, I had a 4.3 GPA, community service, top of my class, loads of extra curriculars including a part time job. My only downfall are my average SAT scores. Chances?

Any help would be great!

I think that it is pretty hard to transfer to UF and FSU without the AA degree, partly just because of not having enough space.

i’m applying also as a lower division transfer student at FSU. I’m also a freshman in college but at FIU, have a 3.5 college gpa, 4.1 high school gpa and also average test scores. I was accepted in fall 2011 after high school but was not able to attend so now i am reapplying. Have you heard back from them yet? Any status update? I wonder if they have notified any lower division transfers for summer 2012 of their acceptance.

Having an AA gives you a leg up in the admissions process, but it doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance to get in as a trasfer.

I applied for Summer '12 as well, and applied in mid-December. Still waiting, they haven’t even looked at my application yet. I applied to UF around the same time and heard back within a month. FSU must have A LOT of applicants to sort through.

Are you applying as an upper division transfer? And are you coming from a community college or university? What is your first choice, UF or FSU? If FSU does not workout for me, I plan on applying after completing 60 credits.

Upper-division transfer, and will have completed my AA in May.
I applied to UF, FSU, and USF…and I might apply to UCF.
I was rejected from UF, as CLAS is highly competitive.
UF and FSU were both my top choice, as I don’t really want to go to USF. Hope to find out soon about FSU though just to have peace of mind and then probably apply to UCF if FSU rejects me.

whats an AA

AA=Associates in Arts

I got in and will be considered a Senior upon entering Summer Term. Super excited.

Sent from my iPod touch using CC

@papertiger87 congrats!!! :)

^thanks!

Just in case current or future transfer applicants are curious and want to know their chances when they search around:

CC GPA: 2.9/3.0
No hooks, just worked part-time throughout college.
Major: History (not limited access)
I had over 60 transferrable credits and it will take me only one year to earn my BA, instead of the usual two years.
Applied in mid December and they received my High School and CC transcripts during the second week of January. They periodically updated here and there up until they sent my application to be reviewed on the 13th of February, and received my decision today (22/Feb).

So yes it is possible even if you earned a low GPA, as long as you show an upward trend in your grades.

Good luck and hope y’all find out soon.

My admission status changed to: “Your application has been reviewed by the Office of Admissions and has been referred to the appropriate academic representative for review.”

So I guess that means step 1 is out of the way and now I need to be accepted from the college of my major.

I know this is the easy part now but I am nervous because Marketing is limited access and I am a lower-divison transfer.

Anyone have some feedback? or has anyone’s status changed??
