So i’m actually a freshman at uw bothell right now. I decided to go here thinking i was going to pursue a degree in biology
then after some really unfortunate circumstances (my dad getting diagnosed with stage IV terminal cancer) i decided that I should follow my dreams and study art and hopefully get a job in animation. I’ve been taking all my prereqs so far and I came in with 10 college credits.
my main problem is that UW bothell literally only has 3 art classes and there’s no way i could further myself with that since the campus is really focused on its science majors. I was planning on doing summer quarter in the first place to get a head start and I figured ( i am most likely wrong about this) that the admission rate would be lower in the summer
I know i literally have the worst chances, but it doesn’t hurt to try?
so far I have 25 credits at the time of application
3.87 gpa, dean’s list
3.45 cumulative (i did really bad on a uw college in the hs class i took in high school (i still passed and got the credit) and now it’s haunting me)
hs gpa- 3.7 SAT-1760
AP- world history (4), biology (4)- apparently my bio credit doesnt count at bothell according to my advisor, studio art (5)- credit doesnt count at bothell either
extracurriculars- volunteering at UW bothell’s Achieving community transformation club, hip hop club, part time retail job, artworks recognized on campus creative publication
in my essay I talked about how passionate I am about art and animation and how my family is currently dealing with my dad’s cancer and the severe financial situation we are in because of it
I really tried to make it clear that I was very passionate about pursuing the painting and drawing bfa that they have
I hope admission can take all of these facts into account and hopefully do me a solid on this
What’s your question exactly? Are you trying to transfer to UW Seattle? Get into an art program at UW Bothell?

i’m trying to transfer to seattle from bothell (important fact that i left out whoops)
You have okay chances. Though there’s a probable solution to your problem – you can take classes at UW Seattle as well, it’s just that there’s a limitation on it. Summer quarter is open for everyone as far as I know.

@seatac thanks for the feedback! I hear the max amount of credits you can do by cross campus is 45, so I don’t really know what I’d do after I hit that limit (if actually ended up doing that). I’ll actually be done with the majority of my pre reqs by the end of the quarter ( still need a couple more nw and one more i&S credits)
