anyone know if the diversity program is merit-based or need-based? As in, if I weren't a URM and came from an average middle class family, would they still consider me?

wow, the deadline's coming up pretty quickly i only marked SAMS because i'm a sophomore so it's the only one i'm eligible for, do u think it matters if u don't rank any other ones?

also, do u ask your teachers to seal their recs in envelopes and sign the seal or do u just attach them to your applications or do u give your teachers stamped envelopes?

The online app says to get 2 recommendations from subject area teachers. If I'm applying for a computer science and calculus course on AP/EA, do you think it would be bad to get one of my recs from an english teacher (the other one will be a math teacher)? I think he would write a really good one, but not sure if that would be taken badly. =/

Yo!
This is by far my top choice of a summer program! Was anyone else slightly peeved, though, to hear about the deadline extension? I only printed out online copies of my scores to go with my packet, so should I take advantage of the extra time and have an official copy of my scores sent? I figure 13 bucks a pop is worth it if it makes the difference.

And if there's anyone out there who went last year or the year before, could you maybe tell me my chances?
ACT - 34
PSAT - 223
SAT - 2190
rank 2/226
I'm only applying for AP/EA since I'm content with my SAT (I only need it for national merit since I live in Alabama, and most southern schools go by ACT) and I've taken pre-cal and calculus is all that is left for me to take at my school in Podunk, USA, so if I took it over the summer, senior year would be more dull than I'm already expecting it to be.

My essay on diversity was iffy since I wasn't sure if I should focus on personality or demographics, so I kinda did both. I'm a Chickasaw female, and I come from a rural area, which means my school has a grand total of THREE AP classes offered. My acheivement essay was based on my expereince at HOBY, which I think was original, if not prize-winning.

Spastic post, I know, but I'm freaking excited about this so I can't help it!!!!

I was a bit annoyed too when they extended the deadline! All that rush the week before + a later decision day!

I also applied to AP/EA, though if I get into Clark Scholars(research) I will have to decline my offer here if I get in (this is such an awesome program I know!).

Chickasaw! Brings back memories. My 7th grade Social Studies teachers loved how the word sounded (sadly, it's one of the only names I know).

I tend to take diversity essays as uniqueness essays, so I just showed them a personal trait, kinda tied back to my background.

I just sent them a printed copy of my SAT too. I don't think it'll be a big deal.
