Hi all,

I am currently in 10th grade and was first of all wondering whether this summer really counts in terms of college admissions? Will they be really hung up on what I do? (And by they, I mean highly selective college admissions officers...)

Secondly, would a trekking program be seen as soft? Not soft physically, but as in unimpressive? Would it be much better to look for an international program like one in Norway or Thailand (though those do seem to be even more expensive)?

And lastly, what (except for programs like RSI and TASP) are great things to do over the summer? Would they look highly upon a 6 week homestay in France or should I be doing things like internships?

In all honesty, I would really like to do something more active in order to gain a bit more self confidence (I'm more of an academic than athlete), but still don't want to lose the opportunity to better my chances at a great college.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :)
