I'm looking into finishing some general ed courses the summer after my senior year's spring semester. I plan on enrolling in grad school the fall after that same summer. Does taking classes during the summer have any effect on grad school?

Well I mean, wouldn’t you not technically have graduated if you were still taking classes after your spring semester? And wouldn’t this mean grad schools might not consider you because you haven’t actually graduated? I don’t know, but I can’t imagine they would really be okay with this. If I were you, I would contact a school and ask about their policy on this unique matter.

It won’t matter as long as you have completed your undergraduate degree before starting graduate school.

Do grad schools expect you to start the fall after or the summer? Most likely fall I’m assuming. Obviously you can’t take grad classes that summer, but maybe your advisor expects you to start on research?

Most expect the fall. Some advisors may want you over the summer if possible.
