Quick Question

This may be a weird question, but I was just wondering. I’ve decided to start college in the spring instead of fall. I would like to apply for grad school after I finish college. Is starting school in the spring considered to be a negative thing? Would it be a bad thing when I’m applying for grad school? I guess I thought that it could be, because I would have probably taken less classes than someone who started in fall. Opinions?

Quick answer - No problem. Don’t worry about it.

I don’t entirely agree with above. Spring admits can often have a tough time. There are no actvivites for Spring admits. It’s hard to meet people sometimes. If you are an outgoing and confident person, it might not be a problem for you.

For grad school it won’t be an issue - people graduate in December (a semester early or late) at many schools. You will have to finish undergrad requirements - grad schools won’t care how exactly you do it. I know many people take a gap year, but not sure about one semester. Look at the specific school(s) and see what their spring requirements are.

If you graduate in the spring, be careful because some grad programs only start in the fall semester. If you graduate in three and a half years it is fine.

Take summer classes in 2017 and you will be on track.
