Hey guys,
I got accepted into the Summer at Brown program. What courses did you guys enjoy? I want to take a Creative Writing Course and a Science one. Can I take two courses during one session? How were the activities? What should I bring? Also my parents are weary about sending me because money is an issue because it is expensive? How should I convince them to let me go? Thanks

Yes, you can do two courses in one session.

Activities are not as structured as many seem to believe – you’re treated more independently than you would be at a traditional summer camp.

Bring clothes? It depends on the length of your session, but don’t pack like you’re going to be living there long-term; you can rent a lot of stuff when you get there (pro-tip: get a fan, Providence summers are hot).

If money is an issue and your parents seem adamant, I wouldn’t push it. It can be fun, but the reality is that it costs a lot too and isn’t the right choice for everyone. Find a job or take some classes at a local college, if worst comes to worst. The experience will be just as enlightening and can be as fun as you make it to be.
