Contrary to what we saw on UF's site, the room selection site will be active for Summer B. DS received an email saying selection starts March 25th.

So which is the best place for a social freshman to live? What dorm do you recommend from this list? DS keeps hearing about Springs, but it seems far from classes.

I’m not sure why anyone would say Springs is a social dorm. I’m a freshman at UF, and I’ve lived in Springs since Fall 2012 started. I like the dorm, the amenities are pretty nice. However, from what I can see, no one on my floor seems to interact, and I seldom see any socialization at the commons; it seems like people only go there for laundry, mail, vending machines, etc.

I haven’t heard much about the dorms that 2013cheer mentioned, but I can recommend Beaty. I have a friend who lives in Beaty East, and he absolutely loves it. I spend Many people on the floor socialize, and there’s even interaction between floors. Everybody is very friendly, and most of them love to party. Because of the social environment, I tend to spend a good amount of my free time there as well. Also keep in mind that, at least in Beaty East, the tower will be full because of the IA students who stay for the summer.

There are other reasons to live there too. The 4-person apartments are pretty nice, Beaty has a nicer commons than Springs, and also you there’s the market place for easy access to food (and Broward dining is a short walk away).

If you want any more info on Beaty or Springs, just ask me, but I would recommend Beaty. It’s my top choice for housing for Summer B 2013.
