I'm doing BELL this summer, and I'm so excited! Anyone else?

i want to, its wayy expensive though. and i dont think theyre giving out financial aid anymore.

Hey, I'm another one that did Summer@Brown (2 summers ago) and it was greattt!!! I did Reading, Writing, and Public Speaking and it was AMAZING. I'm an actress by nature, and I thought I'd be the best in the class by far, but my instructor HATED my speaking voice. She broke me down and turned me into a fabulous public speaker. I had a great time, 3 hours of class a day and you've got 21+ hours to do almost whatever you want. No other camp is going to give you such a great combo of freedom and fun work. I personally only had speech writing homework, but since my class was from 12-3, I could roll out of bed around 11 AM, research a couple cool speeches, print one out and dash over to class. You'll have so much fun as long as you stay more than 1 week (the 1 week classes are NOT worth it, you'll feel slighted, trust me!!!). The people were pretty much awesome, and I formed great bonds with kids from New Jersey to Zimbabwe to Switzerland. I advise Summer @ Brown over any of the other university programs you might be looking at simply because of the great freedoms they give you. Providence is actually a great city, but you'll never want to leave College Hill...from crepes to Indian food to pizza to the Brown Bookstore, it's fabulous. Don't do it for the resume thing...it's a fact that any paid program will not be looked on advantageously simply because the average Joe (and even the not-so-average Joe) can't afford to go to Summer@Brown...and for those who are worrying about getting in, as long as you aren't failing and are a decent student, you'll get in. And to the freshmen, I'd advise waiting a year. I distinctly remember there only being one freshman in our dorm, and everyone knew who she was because, well, she acted like a freshman. There are many sophmores and juniors. If you're mature, maybe, if not, just wait.

Long story short, apply and go to Summer @ Brown, you won't regret it!

I just got accepted and im sooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it was the greatest three weeks of my summer last year. i met the most amazing people ever. there is never a dull moment i promise you and even the class was amazing. overall it will be the best investment ever you wont be disappointed.

but for those who were wondering about "impressing brown" i applied early after the program and got deferred. still waiting to see about RD now...

Hi guys,
I was wondering when does Brown notify you of acceptance into the program? I haven't paid my application fee yet, nor have they received my transcript (even though I sent it over 2 weeks ago!) Also, I know that the financial aid has been depleted, but is there still any chance of receiving aid? Thanks, and hope to see you guys this summer!

once you have all of your things in, it take no more than 10 days to get notified by email whether you have been accepted or not. It took 8 days for me and it took about 2 weeks for them to receive my transcript too after I sent it in. I'm not sure about financial aid opportunities.

^FA dries up pretty quickly (I applied in late March/early April last year and it was pretty much all gone). My suggestion is to apply ASAP. Of course it might be too late this year.

Remember, Summer@Brown is an experience that you will treasure for the rest of your life. You will seriously have the time of your life. However, don't expect it to get you into those highly prestigious schools.

I'm going there!!

They finally received my complicated application on the 26th. I applied for Themes from Existentialism, from June 22nd through July 10th. I'm pretty excited and hope I get accepted :)

Hey yaaboi, I;m also taking How the Legal System Works...pretty cool!

I participated in Summer@Brown this past summer in the 7-week program where you are enrolled in two University classes with other Brown students. I took The first semester of The Essentials of Greek Language (although our professor decided to try and squeeze both semesters into 7 weeks...so it was quite intensive) and Introduction to Human Physiology. Physio wasn't too bad because I have a had a great background in Bio but Greek was very demandind, even with my Latin experience which ended up helping a lot. I ended up getting an A in both courses and would HIGHLY recommend this program to anyone who can sacrifice both 7 weeks of their summer and the funds. I still keep in close touch with about 5-10 of my friends there and look back on this experience as one of the best of my life.

While I was admitted to Brown RD, I only know of one other person from the 7-week program who was admitted (~100 people and I assume most if not all applied to Brown). By no means does this program give you a major leg up compared to other applicants. If anything, it would only show Brown you are committed to education and learning and that you have an interest in the school. If anyone has any questions about the Summer@Brown experience or more specifically the 7-week program feel free to ask.

summer at Brown was amazing, so many unforgettable memories! You will so much fun, and make some really amazing friends!

The Leadership Institute was by far the best one =)

I’m doing the 3 week financial market and investments course! So pumped, theres even a facebook group now! [Summer@Brown 2009 | Facebook](Facebook)

Yeah, I have been to two of those camps and loved them! I cannot go this year because of the cost (ivy league summer= big $$$$), plus I am doing volunteer work and getting a job. Totally worth it, as you will fall in love with Providence and Brown. Have a good time and learn a thing or two!!!

hey guys! so I was planning on taking a law class at brown but it says that online that we will have classes in the morning and afternoon and I dont really want to have that many classes! does anybody know if this takes up your whole day or if it is just some days or whats the deal with this!?

I read that pre-college courses are only for three hours a day, either in the morning or the afternoon. Only credit courses have two sessions a day…pardon me if I’m wrong but I’m almost certain this is how it works.

yaaaboi, I agree with lettyroxmysox. When I was at Brown, I had a class from 12-3; only a few courses met for longr periods of time, and I think that his law class is new this year. I could be wrong, but I don’t think that anybody has gone to it yet.

@gamedude i was thinking about applying for the intro to human physiology class… how was it? Do you recommend it? ?
