I'm right now taking a summer class, and because of unforseen emegencies early on in the summer, I'm kind of screwed for the class. The best I can hope for is probably a C. Do you think I should take this class as P/NP? I really don't want to screw up my GPA. The class is not related to my major nor is it part of BCPM, Im taking it because of an university requirement.

BTW, does taking too many classes as P/NP hurt you later on in medical school application? What's the rough limit on the number of classes that you can take this way beore it negatively impacts your chances? Thanks a lot.

I think it's relative. P/F is obviously unacceptable for pre-med classes, general education requirements, or your major/minor classes. For electives, you can probably take some as P/F, but I wouldn't take too many. I always did well in my electives, so A/B/C/D/F grading benefited my GPA.

Personally, I would take the P versus the C, ESPECIALLY considering the class isn't related to your major or is a pre med req. I would not make a habit of it though. I doubt taking one class P/F when all your other classes have been taken on a graded basis will make a significant difference in how admissions sees you...

aaa...isn't it way too late to change the class from grade to p/f? o.O

What class are you talking about?
