Summer Classes

How important is taking summer classes for students?
I plan on transferring to UCLA, I’m a psychology major

Summer and school are two words that should never go together. Perhaps, summer job, and summer vacation, sure, but summer school? Meh… Seriously, it does not matter that you take summer courses. UCLA is not going to look at your transcripts and give you brownie points for taking summer courses. The only reason people take summer courses is to finish up faster. I never took a single summer course at CC nor at UCLA. So, if you can… skip summer school and enjoy your summer off.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice! time to find a job and work

I agree with Tik1127. Only take summer courses only and only if you would not be able to transfer within the sweet 2 years. Or if you would like to lighten up your course loads for fall/spring, go for it :p.

OR you can take them to speed through a class you are not looking forward to taking for a whole semester. I had to take an Accounting class 1 summer to make up for 1 I failed years before. I’m so glad I got through it in 6 weeks, rather than slogging through it for 16 weeks. I wouldn’t choose anything that would be too difficult for you, but really just something you aren’t looking forward to.
