Summer Community College

My school offers very few honors/AP classes, and I have not even taken all of the offered ones. Maybe half of them. I realize that this reflects poorly upon me as a student.

However, I plan on taking 2-3 classes at the local community college this summer. If I were to do so and get A's in them, would that help make up for the rigor (or lack thereof) of my high school courses? Would it show that I am capable of handling higher level courses and thusly improve my application?

It couldn’t hurt. I think that it would show your commitment to your course study. Take courses that you’re interested in, courses that could relate directly to your intended major. It would definitely show that you are capable of handling higher level courses, depending on the institution. Is there any way you would be able to take college courses at a local university rather than community college? I suggest doing that instead.

I’m not really sure what I want to major in, but I was definitely planning on taking courses I’m interested in. Psychology looks interesting, maybe a biology class or calc II, or like a classic literature class just for personal enrichment.
