I am really struggling with a summer course I am taking. If I don’t turn in my report card to my original school, they won’t give me credit for the summer class. If I want to apply to medical school later, can the admission’s people see that I too a summer course at a different college?
When you go to apply to medical school, AMCAS (allopathic programs) and AACOMAS (osteopathic programs) require you to submit official transcripts from every college you’ve ever attended. This includes any co-enrollment courses from high school AND any colleges where you ever enrolled in one or more classes.
AMCAS and AACOMAS both will verify your enrollments by using a student academic clearinghouse.
So although the course may not appear on the transcript from your college of record, you are still obligated to report that you took the class and send an official transcript with your grade. That class will also be included when calculating your GPA on your med school application.
Deliberately failing to report the course is considered making a fraudulent application and will get you banned for life from ever applying to med school.
What would happen if I decided to drop the course?
Yes, any college course that you enrolled in must be reported on med school app whether you got a grade, W, I, P/F, etc.
