What kind of weight might taking a 3-week intensive study program at Princeton University this summer (I'm a HS junior right now) have on my applications? I'm looking specifically at a course geared towards political science and government policy, which is an area that I'm very interested in, but before I invest a few thousand dollars and three weeks of summer I'm wondering what kind of clout it might have. The program is run through the JHU CTY and is pretty selective.

If you really want to take a course at Pton, I suggest Junior Statesmen of America, esp. since you're interested in political science and govt. (it's a politics camp ). It's not that prestigious, but more so than CTY I think, and you will find a lot of very smart people there. Princeton prob. will see that you have interest in them, but it def. isn't a guarantee into the college.

I'm actually not that interested in Princeton at all... I just happened to notice the program and was wondering if colleges in general would see that as something that sets me apart from other applicants. My reach schools will probably wind up being Stanford and Columbia, but I plan on applying to a number of other matches and safeties (hoping to get some scholarship money also so I can go away).
