So English is just what it sounds like and effective speech is a public speaking class. @asaberian My daughter took college speech in high school and those credits counted, so she took English 15 in the LEAP. Both are required. Good news is summer session is only 6 weeks…so pick the one you’d least like to take and get it over with in the shortest time!
My son got information tech and a speech class. Had no issue getting it right at 5. I think it will be good for him! None of the classes were directly in his major but still count for general ed.
Can freshman bring a car to campus For summer?
Yes for summer only, but I believe there is a fee.
@ian123 I just posted on the other thread. That is true but summer is the exception. You can bring a car for summer session if you pay for a parking pass. But then no parking pass until you have enough credits to be considered a sophomore.

is there any way to see if we can change to fall semester? i would have no problem going over the summer but my 18th birthday is right in the middle of when the session happens and my parents dont want me going
Your choice is 1° summer or 2° not University Park. See what matters more to you.
By the way, nothing prevents your parents from coming to State College to celebrate your birthday with you. 
@therustyrusty If you were accepted summer, that’s your only option at this point. That means that they’ve already “denied” you for fall, but accepted you for summer. Assuming, of course, that you had summer session as your alternative and not your first choice. If you applied for fall with the summer option, that’s what you got. The only way you can start in the fall is if you do a branch campus for first 2 years. My daughter went for summer last year and loved it. Her graduation party was smack in the middle of the summer session and she came home for it. Depending on how far you are, you could go home or your parents could visit you in State College for your birthday.
Is LEAP only on weekdays or can you choose which days you want? Do people usually go home on “off” days?Because it is most of the summer and I want to go back home every weekend or every other weekend.
@graceeg LEAP is only weekdays. But I don’t think a lot of people go home on the weekends because there is So much to do in State College in the summers. It’s a beautiful time to be there. My daughter came home once during LEAP and that’s it. And I made her come home that time, lol. Summer is a lot of fun. But, that being said, you CAN go home whenever you want. classes are weekdays only.
