Summer Courses?

Does anyone know how many courses regular summer B students (meaning not in one of the programs) are required to take? Because I heard that it was like 2 courses, but then I remember someone saying something like we have to take 3 courses in order to be considered full time students and in order to get all of our financial aid or something?
Also, is there a way to see what classes are being offered this summer and the times and stuff?
Thankss (:

I believe you take 2 full courses, but you can also take a 1 credit “intro to college” type course in addition I think.

Btw, did you decide on USF?

Well not exactly. I mean it’s looking like it … but if UCF accepts me off of the waitlist I’ll probably go. And omg I just realized something… do summer courses generally last longer than fall and spring semester ones? Like are summer classes a couple hours long rather than an hour or so like Fall & Spring classes?

I think it’s either the classes are longer or they are more frequent. It’s one semester of learning in half the time. That’s why you only take a couple of classes in the summer.

The summer B term new freshmen usually take an English course (unless you completed AP or DE English already) and one other general studies requirement course. Too I think USF still pushes a college success skills course for all freshmen except engineering students who get in up to their necks with hard courses first term and don’t have time to take the success skills course. If anyone just squeezed into USF barely: take the college success course! The academic advisors at orientaton will help you with course selection; you can find course schedule on Oasis, but it is early for summer B and it likely doesn’t have all offerings on it yet. More importantly than anything else with the summer B term–make sure you pass your courses! If you blow the courses for the 6 weeks, it is tough to get out of the hole and get back on track, take the courses seriously and get good grades. Many of the freshmen who go summer B were borderline admits, some don’t take college seriously, flunk the courses and they disappear from USF never to be seen again.

Haha ohh heck no I’m not like that. I don’t see it possible to not try or flunk classes that I’m paying for lol . No way. I’m serious about actually learning and getting a good career. I’m pretty well rounded in most of the general subjects but math which has always been a struggle for me and really is the only reason why I’ve had such a struggle with the college admissions process :confused: So I’m definitely not taking that over the summer lol! But yeah I took oth ENC 1101 and 1102 through dual enrollment which has opened my eyes to how college works . From what I’ve experienced I like college a lot more than high school. Even though I’ve done dual enrollment I’ll be going in with a 4.0 college GPA which I worked really hard to achieve to assure that I wouldn’t mess up my college GPA before I even started univeristy. && I wouldn’t disappear from USF never to be seen again unless UCF accepts me (:

Just so you know, some of us choose to start during the summer… The FSI and SSS students are the ones who have conditional acceptance.

@ Kalied, was that directed towards me or Lizard lol ? If towards me, I know that . I’m one of them lol.

It wasn’t directed at anyone in particular, I was just saying… Lol…

@MayDay- They told me 3 courses which are all based on yur test scores.

@Slim2, kk thanksss

I’d be surprised if USF is encouraging beginning freshmen to take more than two 3 credit hr. classes for summer B term. Maybe they are including the “University Experience” course if they suggest 3 courses?

They don’t offer UE during the summer…
