Summer courses

My junior son is going to a summer program at CMU. He is taking AP Chem, AP Calc BC etc at his HS. How hard are the combination of these courses for the summer? Well, any comments are welcomed, really :)

Combo 1 -
15-110 Principles of Computing (he has no prior exposure)
21-259 Calculus in Three Dimensions

Combo 2 -
15-110 Principles of Computing (he has no prior exposure)
57-341 Sound Recording Workshop (how do they grade this course? It seems like a hands-on type of course, almost vocational? He can read music and sight sing easy stuff)

Combo 3 -
21-259 Calculus in Three Dimensions
57-341 Sound Recording Workshop

Thanks!

I took 15110 with no prior programming experience and found it fairly easy. I heard it became slightly harder last semester (when I took it, it was the first offering after the curriculum was revamped). Nevertheless, it should still be much easier compared to 15112.

As for 21259, IMO it should be fairly easy also if your son’s calculus foundation is strong. Personally my calc foundation was a bit shaky and I had to put in extra effort reviewing calc I & II stuff, though after some initial struggling I did very well in the exams. Apparently the level of difficulty varies according to who’s teaching as well.

Thanks jellycat! Finally someone from CMU shows us some love  Seriously, I think he comes down to 21-259 and one easy course, like sound recording or design (I think this design is a made-up course for precollege kids; that’s fine).
