i was just wondering if anybody had any tips to help me stay in shape for the summer. You see, i’m returning home which is below sea-level and i want to make sure that my work-outs help me improve especially when i return to the high altitude. is there really such a big difference between training at sea-level and above sea-level? Any advice?

big difference in usafa and sea level. i came from sea level.

aerobic exercise will help you not feel it AS bad, but it’ll still suck. running and swimming, and lots of it

Make sure that you do some high intensity work once or twice a week (twice is better) - think intervals (1/2 mile fast, 1/2 mile moderate). Unfortunately, there is not a great (non expensive) substitute for altitude, but staying in the best aerobic shape possible is a definite plus for your return.

Regardless of how hard you work out at home, expect to still feel the altitude once you get back. That’s not to dissuade you from working out while you’re away (as that’s definitely a great idea); just don’t feel bad when you go back and you get a bit winded climbing the stairs to your dorm room. ;)
