Does anybody have any info on foreign affairs programs for high schoolers here in the states (or even abroad) or any info about foreign summer programs in Asia or Europe or anywhere else?

do you just mean a homestay abroad? or specific study programs, i.e. http://www.summeradvantage.com ? or something else?

I did a summer program back in the summer of 2007 on International Relations at Georgetown. Yes, you have to pay for it, and no, it is not that prestigious, but I got to see that I would love to go to Georgetown and I got to meet many of the professors there, many of whom I exchanged emails with after the program for a while. It might not be the most prestigious program out there, but it is a very high quality program, and many of the kids I met there are absolutely brilliant, not to mention that the different speakers were leaders in their fields. Also, I did a study abroad program, NSLI-Y, it’s a merit based scholarship program through the state department that basically pays for you to spend a summer/semester/year abroad learning a less commonly taught language, i.e. Russian, Chinese, Turkish, Persian, I learned Arabic in Jordan.

It was a great experience, and it was free.

Thanks for the info. My daughter is interested in learning chinese in the summer. Is the NSLI program still availabe? I click on the link and found nothing. Do you know anywhere else whether in China or Taiwan offer such program.
