Summer in New York

Hi, I don’t post on this site often, but I was just curious about Barnard’s pre-college programs. I’m going to the Summer in New York one this summer, and was just curious as to a few things in the program. For anyone that’s been, do you have a lot of free time? Will I be able to do things on my own or will I have to stay with a group? How much spending money would you suggest taking? The material that Barnard provides is not really forthcoming about this information. Thanks so much!

You have A LOT of free time. If you're doing the five week, your 2 1/2 hour classes are never that long (they usually start late and end early in fact...your teacher will tell you more in the beginning...2.5 hrs is just too long). If it's the same as last year, you can do things on your own or in a group. You just sign out in the book (that's annoying) and be back by curfew. Bring a lot of spending money, and make sure you budget yourself so you have enough at the end!

thanks so much...i was worried that there would only be scheduled group excursions and that i would not be able to shop
