As summer comes around we're probably finishing up some exams last minute things and move into summer. This is really for people in HS going to apply to college

Just a question, how important are your intended-major related "internships?"
say you wanted to study business, some internship at UBS or citibank...
or engineering, something fancy at like intel...etc

while I do realize that its probably a job where you do nothing significant(just the prestige), does it help you app and is it better than the "typical community job?"

I would say it’s not required but it’s really good if you do it. Summer gives you an opportunity to do whatever you want, so if you spend that time demonstrating interest in what you think that you’re passionate about, then that can only look good.

Bigb14…“do something you like to do. Don’t waste your time fluffing your college app”

i fink internships are fun, get you ideas about what your interests are, and if they fluff your college app, and can get me somewhere better, i will give up some other summer plans…

Anyone thinks someone with some citigroup or UBS bank internship is amazing? or is it just ignored

To OP: I’m not sure how impressive that is unless it’s a competitive process to be awarded that internship. If it’s selective and you plan on majoring in business/demonstrate this on your app, then it only helps.

My mom did something similar, but it was a very selective internship through a business institute and she got into every college she applied to (including UPenn & Brown).

Of course UBS/Citi helps…UBS helps more than Citi. Who cares about Citi?? It’s all about European banks (sry Americans) The ranking of the bank goes European>American>Asian. Every politician, celebrity, dictators…w/e all put their money in a Swiss bank. Ever wondered why Hitler didn’t invade Switzerland? It’s because all the world’s money was there (I’m a history minor)

My dad did something similiar to “big dreamer” - he (an America) did a bank internship in Europe and was accepted into Wharton, Columbia, and some other Ivy

collegedude12345, ur dad is amazing!
so u fink ur dads internship in europe made a difference in the admissions process?
those schools, standing out, seems like very few ppl can get an internship at citibank, let alone a european bank in europe…
