Internships/Summer Programs

Hi...

I am planning to go into business and am hoping to get into a top business school (hopefully Wharton.)

One thing alot of people say is to show colleges that you have a passion for what you want to do. I do have a pretty good list of EC's, with some leadership and positions, but very few have any relation to business. I had some plans this summer (volunteering and taking a course at a college), but some people have told me it would be better to do something related to business.

My question is, what is the best thing to do? especially from a college admissions standpoint.

Should I take an economics and another business course at a college summer program?

Should I try and get an internship? And how would I go about that? I know it may sound stupid, but I have no idea about how I would go find an internship and what KIND of internship would be better than another. And at this point, I know it might be late for certain things, but what kinds of oppurtunities might be avaiable to me...

Thanks alot for all your help! I really appreciate it!

IMO..

internships, college summer programs, and business courses DO show interest but I have never heard YOU ARE FORCED TO do something related to your major. And still IMO, although an EC you do is not related with business, it can show other deeper things. E.g. if you started a tutoring English program for students that are going throught the whole process of ESL and you have encouraged some of your friends to start it and do it on a regular basis, this shows leadership, somethign very important for business. Plus, if you do it becuase you really like to do it, then hooray, you show deep passion.

Although it's not related to business, if you look it in more subtle ways, it does show some of the qualities you need to become a qualified businessman/woman. Internships and business programs show interest too.

P.S. anybody correct me if I'm wrong.

Alrite thanx alot keyster!

Also, any suggestions on how to go about finding and internship. I know I probably sound stupid asking this, but I really don't know...

You don't sound stupid! It's just that you don't know. I also doubt that, I don't really know.. Do you think it works the same as summer schools?
