Summer Leadership Programs/Conferences at Deloitte, PWC, E&Y, and KPMG?????

Are they hard to get into? Should I try to get into all 4, or is that overkill? How do they help you/what are they all about?

They’re the big four accounting firms (holy I crap I have so much paraphenalia from them… my business school is known as an accounting school). They’re specifically for people who want to get CGA, CMA, or CA’s. One of my friends went in the summer of her second year and through networking, got an internship for her third year at Deloitte, so yes, it’s worth it if you want to pursue accounting.

I applied to the Deloitte one in my first year and didn’t get in, probably due to lack of a cover letter. It doesn’t hurt to try for all of them, just modify your cover letter so it’s relevant to each company’s characteristics. Good luck!

they’re mainly for sophomores (probably why you didn’t get in). I’m just wondering (hypothetically speaking) if I got into 1 or 2 or 3 or all of them, should I go to them all or just 2 or something?

My old school feeds a lot of kids into these programs starting the summer between freshman and sophomore years, and (at least coming out of my experience) then those students typically stay with that company for awhile. They’re pretty competitive from what I’ve heard but basically give you a chance to apply the stuff you’ve learned in accounting to real world and to how each company does their business. It’s really a solid way to build a relationship with the company you want to get an internship/job with. I would apply to those you’re interested in and see if you get offers next year (I think its too late) but then go with one program and work on building a relationship with the company. I think that’s the most beneficial thing the program can do for you.

I applied to all of the leadership programs and am going to attend 4 of them this summer. It’s a great opportunity to network and get a feel for each of the different companies to see where you fit in best. If you talk to any of the recruiters or really anyone at the companies they all will tell you that they picked that firm because of the people so it is really a matter of seeing which company you fit into best. By networking with people from all the firms you will be able to make connections there and hopefully have a better chance of getting an internship next summer. Also with such a tough economy I think it’s best to keep your options open with all of the firms and build connections with all of them. That way if you don’t get your first choice company you may still have a chance at the other ones. Hope this helps.

I know it might be a bit late…
but which companies have programs that are still accepting apps for this summer?
