Anyone know what's available and does not cost a fortune? Thanks

It’s out on Long Island, but my DS has a friend who has gone to a math program at Stony Brook and really liked it.

Our HS has all the summer programs listed on Naviance - go to “colleges” and then “enrichment programs.”

Alternatively, just google “summer math programs” and “New York.” i was looking for engineering programs this way and it worked.

This list is a good starting point - [Summer Math Camps and Programs for High School Students](AMS :: Summer Math Camps and Programs for High School Students).

My son loved HCSSiM (from the list above). It’s six weeks, but heavily subsidized and costs < $3000 (still a lot of course).

It would help if you mentioned the kind of math that he is looking for: college level or high-school level. Formal course material or enrichment. Maybe a price range that you are looking at.

My S applied for NIDA Summer research , we heard the decisions would be sent out by mid march so wondering if anyone heard if applied. He did not receive any news yet. Please let me know

I’ve heard good things about a summer math program at Rutgers, although I think it is somewhat expensive.

Game theory(math) at BU. S1 went several years ago after JR year. Fairly reasonable if I recall.

Enrichment/Advanced or Remedial?

Any limits or preferences for length?

Residential or Day program?

Male or Female? (There are some STEM programs geared specifically toward females.)

Enrichment or college level–has finished AP calc. Will be junior and is very interested in pure math versus applied. Cost under 2,000 if possible.

Male, enrichment (?) I guess–would like intro to logic or number theory. Preferably residential but if within commuting day would be good.

S did a very inexpensive three week-ish program at NYU last summer.

[NYMC - High School Summer Program](NYMC - 2023 High School Summer Program)

It’s not a competitive program, but I think they challenge the more talented students. It’s low key, and S liked it.

There’s AOPS.

Just to clarify, AoPS is not a summer camp, though they do sponsor at least one that’s in the list I linked to, and some former employees also run their own camps. AoPS mostly holds online classes throughout the year and they’ve also written a few books. They’re a very good organization, and even if you can’t afford anything, they have a messageboard and some free resources that can be very useful, but using AoPS isn’t going to replicate the atmosphere you’d find at a summer camp.

A number of summer programs are listed on this site:

[Summer Math Camps and Programs for High School Students](AMS :: Summer Math Camps and Programs for High School Students)

NYU and Rutgers programs, possibly the ones mentioned above, are linked on this AMS site, as well as a program at SUNY Stony Brook.

Thanks I will look into Math Circle and AOPS. I know there is also Camp Euclid I think but I don’t know anyone who has done that.
