I am posting for a friend who I spoke to tonite. Her daughter has a really lovely voice, and is interested in finding a [nonpaying] internship in Music /music business/ musical theater, etc. this summer, hopefully in US. Any thoughts?

I suggest you repost in the Music section under majors. However, frankly it's probably too late for this summer. Most applications had to be in much sooner. You could also do a Google search, though. I remember finding a non-paid help wanted ad for a local (Atlanta) theater some years back, when helping my S look. If location matters, just Google a particular city for theater / stage / playhouse programs, for names of theaters. They may have job listings posted, or a contact email that you can write to and ask. I heard a story a few years back of a friend who wrote to a theater and offered her services for free, in exchange for experience, and ended up moving into a paid position there.

Check online want-ads for newspapers, too. For instance, for Atlanta you can check the ajc.com, or Creative Loafing.
