<p>So i am almost done with my first semester here at Carnegie Mellon. I am a Chemistry Major and my first semester GPA was a 3.0
I have heard a lot of freshman don't get internships after their first year here at cmu, but even if i can't end up getting one, I do not want to do nothing over the summer. I want to do something I can add to my resume, and getting paid is the least of my concerns. I am trying to possibly do research but I am in New York. Would it be frowned upon to look for research opportunities at a school here in the city? I just want to do something that I can add to my resume as a chemistry major to look for employment next year, because before this year I have not had any experience in my field. If anything, what can I do just to gain experience as a research assistant or w.e. to add to my resume? again, getting experience takes preference over getting paid for me</p>
