So… it’s summer and I realized I don’t have anything to do except SAT prep. It’s been 20 days into the start of the summer here. Do you think it’s too late to email around for shadowing in a lab or small research ?
It’s probably too late. Internships/programs will have filled up a long time ago and profs’ inboxes are swamped with kids trying to get research experience.
However, don’t let that stop you! There’s plenty that you can organize by yourself. This is a great time to get your volunteer hours up, get into a new hobby, enter some contests, etc. All of these things will add character and individuality to your application.
And hey, it’s okay to just sleep in and watch Netflix.
I’d recommend doing something constructive with your time in addition to SAT prep. It is probably late to first start asking around for a shadowing or lab opportunity (unless you know someone personally you can ask). Even if you get a part time job, volunteer in your community etc. that would a positive.
What if I could find some shadowing at a local start up, maybe having something to do with research possibly? I mean, even though it is late at this point, I could start working during July.
i just need like comfort from this thread
