Summer program lowering college chances?

I decided to attend an intensive science summer program this year (not very prestigious) and was glad to find out that no “grade” would be given at the end of the program. However, we still had to do lab reports and formal research papers that we received points for. After the points were tabulated, the top scorers were rewarded with awards. But, I’m not sure if I will receive an award. I am worried that colleges nearby are aware of the program and the awards given and if I put the summer program on my college application with no indication of award received, then it will lower my chances. I was also worried about the ad coms calling the university and asking questions about my performance during the program. ( I know a bit paranoid). Although I did not slack off, I’m not stellar at writing formal research papers. I’m otherwise a straight A student, ranked 3rd in my class, and have a 2100 on my SATs. Will putting this summer program on my college application make me look bad to schools?

<p>please... anyone</p>

<p>What colleges are you applying too, also did you have to apply to the program?</p>

<p>yes, I did have to apply to the program. And, what does it matter which college? Do you think that they will look into the program and care?</p>

<p>Well, some colleges are stat based, eg, Low UCs and state schools, while Ivies and higher tier schools look at ECs and stats. If you had to apply, and you were accepted it looks good. Whats the name of your program? And did you have to pay?</p>

<p>it was a summer school of excellence and no I didn't have to pay. But would they ever call the school and ask about my performance and stuff?</p>

<p>no tio woudl not hurt your chances at all. They wont be so picky as to look for awards won here. just attending is a bonus in itself. If they DO notice ther eis no award, they understand that the program participants are all very talented, and not eveyrone can get an award. again, just attneding a summer resrach program is great.</p>

<p>catch your breath, enjoy the program, take what you learned into high school and do not worry...</p>

<p>While the program seems a big deal at the time, there are hundreds and hundreds of such programs all over the country, and colleges won't focus on whether you in particular received any kind of award...</p>

<p>no, i doubt they have the time to look over those tiny details like that. enjoy your time.</p>

<p>You've got to be one of the most paranoid people on this board lol. No offense, but that's kinda like asking about your application for a job and saying, "On my resume, it says I used to work for NASA, but I never actually went to space--will this hurt my chances?"</p>

<p>lol, no it won't hurt you chances</p>

<p>lol, thanks guys. I know I'm really paranoid. I just don't want all my hard work in other fields to go to waste. Thanks for all your imput.</p>
