Am looking at Brown and Boston University currently because I see they have shorter programs (one week long.) Does anyone have any other suggestions or know of any other week long programs that are open to rising 9th graders? Am looking primarily in the Northeast, but it doesn’t have to be.
What are your areas of interest? Science? Computers? Humanities? Writing? What is your budget?? Some programs can be very expensive ($4k+). Both RPI and WPI have one week programs. My S did one on engineering at RPI as a rising sophomore, but he was among the youngest kids there. If you’re into computers, iDtech has a lot of interesting programs that are hosted at different universities (but not affiliated with). Some are day programs, others residential. Do the local colleges in your areas offer classes you could take? Do you qualify for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth? They have many (expensive) residential programs for virtually any interest.
Give us a little more info and you should get some more ideas.
Ole Miss has some great 12 day programs for rising 8-9-10 and it’s only about $1,000. S16 went there a couple of years ago and S21 is going for intro to engineering in July. The older kids take college classes for credit and it’s a really well run program. Just a little hotter than you may be used to in the summer. ;))
