Just got an email from UVa saying I've been selected for the Rainey Academic Program. Does anyone know anyone who has participated in it? Is it worth it?

Hello,

I also received this e-mail and reluctantly accepted the offer. From what I’ve read, it’s a very helpful program that helps tremendously in adjusting to college life. It allows you to take on challenges which an entering freshmen must face at a much earlier time in a less stressful environment.

It’s a good program for students coming from non traditional backgrounds as well as students planning to play sports in the fall.

Cool. @TheBoss2, any idea how we were selected?

The only thing that’s keeping me from accepting the offer is that I’ll have to look for a place to live after it ends and before the official fall year starts.

Check out Craigslist. You may find some people willing to offer cheap sublets of their apartments.

I believe we were selected based on our financial situations.

I have heard many positive things about this program!
