Hello! I’m a rising first year, and recently received an email to attend the UVa Rainey Academic Program, and wanted to get some more information about it. Has anyone taken part in it, and if so, what did you think? Could someone outline some benefits for it?
Overall, I’m just wondering if it is something that is worth partaking in, or if I should try to relax and enjoy my summer vacation since i’ll be spending the next four years at UVA.

If you search the program here on CC, you’ll find some information. The benefits were kinda laid out in the email. You get to meet others with the same financial upbringing, and a lot of guidance from the workshops. Free food if you attend any of the orientation sessions. If you have nothing to do, I’d say go for it because it’s free. I got an email as well, and I’m doing it, though the director hasn’t emailed me back saying I’m in the program.
