Summer Programs - Discussion

You could apply for the Summer Professional Musical Theater Training Program (ages 18+) at CAP21.

That also looks wonderful! There are just too many things I want to do!

For the Interlochen app which is due on Feb 1st, does it mean it has to be postmarked by Feb 1st or get there by Feb 1st? Same with MPulse.

Thanks!

Hello everyone!
So, I'm planning on applying for the OCU summer camp this year, but I cannot make the live auditions as I live in California and have a very hectic schedule that makes it impossible to travel at the times. I am planning on making a video audition tape, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. Should I go to a recording studio and have it professionally done there, or is it ok to have a friend who videotapes as a hobby record me at a local theater or church hall? I'm just not quite sure of the level of quality they want in the video. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!

Hey kaileybelle.
There's no need to go to a recording studio. You can just ask one of your friends to videotape you then just edit it on iMovie etc. to put in titles and stuff. Then you can just burn it onto a DVD! :)

Hey i was just wondering if there are any summer programs or short courses for musical theatre in los angeles??

Thank you bwayjunkie! That definitely sounds a lot easier :)

Does anyone know how overdone CB's dead dog monologue from Dog Sees God is? Thanks!

anyone know the answer to the question I asked earlier?

"For the Interlochen app which is due on Feb 1st, does it mean it has to be postmarked by Feb 1st or get there by Feb 1st? Same with MPulse.

Thanks!"

I really need to know because I don't live in the US :)

Postmarked by would probably be acceptable, but if you live out of the country, and your mail may possibly be delayed, why take that chance? Plan on mailing it a good week or more before the deadline to be safe.

This could be wrong, but I think I remember reading on the MPulse website that applications must be recieved by Feb 2

Why wait and worry - mail now. Get evidence of mailing then if it does not make it you have a case.

Okay thanks I'm going to email it this coming week :)

For anyone who's auditioned for MPulse: Does the full-body pic need to be an 8 x 10 like headshots? Or can it just be a 5 x 7?

Not sure if this has changed - but when my D applied three years ago she just sent in a
current 4 x 6 full body picture along with her headshot.

My D did the same as MTMama's when she applied last year. She sent a 4 x 6 full body picture along with her headshot.

My D, who attended last summer, did the same as above for her full body shot. In fact I just took a snapshot of her at home which she sent along w/ her professional head shot.

Thanks that info was helpful!

One question I have is that on the MPulse site, it says that faxed applications are only accepted by international applicants. I don't live in the US, so do you think its okay if I email and enquire if I can email my other application materials? Or would it just be better to just send it over? Its really pricey though...

Okay so I imported my videos onto iMovie, but then I noticed that my head is cut off.. it wasn't like this on my camera. It's just like my forehead which is cut off... (heh cause I have a big forehead) but do you think this problematic?

I would say that it would certainly be worth trying to see if you could change some settings, and try importing again. If it wasn't like that on the camera, it may be salvageable.
